The Johanne, the Museum’s yawl

The Johanne, a yawl, was built in 1910 at Nyborg Bådebyggeri as a racing and tour boat. She is moored in Nyborg Harbour.

The Johanne originally cost the net sum of 250 Danish kroner. For 80 years the vessel was owned by the same family and is said to have won several races on Nyborg Fjord. In 1990 she was donated to the museum.

Today the Johanne Boat Guild - a group of volunteers - look after the yawl. Each spring, the members of the guild get together to prepare the Johanne for the season. She is usually ready by Easter.

The Johanne sails out of Nyborg during the summer. The guild always welcomes new members.
